Aftercare pairing and revenue loop
Link services to aftercare products with metafields, ritual builder, and cart upsells.
Studio Arcana is built to turn service demand into product revenue. The revenue loop connects service products, aftercare SKUs, cart upsells, and ritual builder bundles.
Product metafields
| Namespace.key | Type | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| custom.service_pairing | list.product_reference | Service → one or more aftercare products (canonical) |
| custom.pairing_priority | single_line_text_field | Optional on paired aftercare SKUs: top / also (or 1 / 2) for PDP tiering |
| custom.treatment_service | product_reference | Aftercare → parent service (reverse link) |
Create both definitions in Settings → Custom data → Products with Storefront access Read. Tag services with type:service and aftercare with type:aftercare for clarity in your catalog.
Product page complementary tiers
- When custom.service_pairing is set, the product page shows Top pick and Also consider tiers.
- Set custom.pairing_priority on aftercare SKUs to control tier placement (top / also).
- When no metafield pairings render, Shopify complementary recommendations fill the block automatically.
Cart drawer upsells
- When a service line item is in the cart, upsell cards surface linked aftercare from service_pairing.
- Route service CTAs to booking and retail CTAs to aftercare — not the same destination.
- Test add-to-cart from product buy box, ritual bundles, and cart upsell cards.
Ritual builder
Each ritual card can add primary treatment, optional add-on, and recommended aftercare in one submit. See the Ritual builder setup guide for block configuration.
Verification checklist
- Service product shows recommended aftercare on PDP or service sections where configured.
- Adding a service to cart triggers aftercare upsell in the cart drawer when pairings exist.
- Ritual bundle adds all expected line items in one action.
