Follow-up stages

Post-visit communication and automation stages in Experience Blueprints — care instructions, reviews, and journey progression.

Follow-up stages run after the appointment. They keep clients informed, request reviews, and advance the journey toward rebook — without your front desk manually sending each message.

Relevant stage types

  • Communication — email or SMS touchpoints scheduled relative to the visit
  • Automation — timed actions when a prior stage completes (for example follow-up care after appointment_completed)
  • Review — post-visit review request tied to the experience instance

Default journey flow

Vertical presets include a follow_up stage that activates when staff mark an appointment completed on Calendar. Reserve evaluates due stages on a schedule and sends configured communications through Resend (or advances state for Klaviyo-triggered flows).

Klaviyo vs plain email

Resend sends plain transactional follow-up when email is connected. For branded nurture sequences, enable Klaviyo journey sync on Professional+ and build flows on Hollow Reserve metrics such as Appointment Completed and Journey Completed.
