Retail conversion
Turn product cards, quick view, cart upsells, subscriptions, and gift cards into attached retail revenue.
Appointments open the door; retail pays the bills. Studio Arcana connects services to aftercare on product pages, quick view, and cart — with clearer gallery, inventory, size chart, and sticky Add to cart behavior on mobile retail PDPs.
Service-to-aftercare pairings
- Tag service products type:service and aftercare type:aftercare.
- Set custom.service_pairing on each hero service to recommended aftercare SKUs.
- Optional: set custom.treatment_service on aftercare so shoppers can book the matching treatment.
- Optional: set custom.pairing_priority (top / also) so Top pick and Also consider stay intentional.
- Confirm Top pick and Also consider cards on the service PDP complementary row, in the cart drawer, and on /cart.
Shopify Admin → Products → Metafields, then Online Store → Themes → Customize → Cart
Product cards and quick view
- Use clear media, price, and badges; keep service and retail cards visually distinct.
- Sale, sold out, New (tag badge:new or new), and custom.product_badge (or badge:… tags) appear on collection and product-grid cards when Show badges is on.
- Optional custom.card_label metafield overrides the section card eyebrow for that product.
- Enable quick view for faster browsing; confirm variants, selling plans, and complementary rows.
- After a successful Add to cart from quick view, the dialog closes and the cart drawer can open — shoppers are not left staring at a stale modal.
- Turn on wishlist hearts where you want save-for-later without leaving the grid.
- Use product templates product.service, product.retail, and product.gift when those journeys differ.
Retail product pages
- Assign **product.retail** for clothing and merch: thumbnail gallery, inventory urgency, size chart, payment icons, and sticky Add to cart on mobile.
- Edit the **Size chart** block sample table, or point it at a page / **custom.size_chart** metafield.
- Variant pills show the selected value and disable sold-out options; inventory status updates when the shopper changes variants.
- Pickup availability sits under a Delivery & pickup heading when you enable the pickup block.
- Add a **Selling plan** block when you offer refill subscriptions (not seeded on the retail template by default).
- Keep service-only blocks (timeline, artist card, contraindications) off retail templates so shoppers see cart actions, not booking.
Promo tiles and campaigns
- Add the Promo tiles section for seasonal packages, gift-card pushes, and service specials.
- Each tile can include image, badge, heading, text, CTA, link, and optional schedule window (shop timezone).
- Shopify Admin (or apps) still own discount codes and automatic discounts — tiles are merchandising only.
- Also use the announcement bar schedule, gift-card promo section, and mega-menu promo columns for lighter campaigns.
Cart and checkout
- Configure cart drawer or cart page, auto-open, notes, discounts, and cart goal in Theme settings → Cart.
- Test retail-only, service-only, and mixed carts before publish.
- Enable Shopify Subscriptions on refill SKUs and confirm the selling-plan picker.
- Verify gift cards and dynamic checkout buttons where you offer them.
- On mobile, opening the cart drawer hides sticky Add to cart / Book bars so they do not cover checkout.
Product comparison
- In Customize → Main collection, turn on Show compare on product cards.
- Create an Online Store page with handle compare; assign the page.compare template.
- Shoppers add up to four products from cards or product pages; the sticky comparison bar appears automatically.
- The compare page reads handles from ?products=a,b,c or the browser key sa_compare.
Back-in-stock notifications
- In Customize → Main product, turn on Show availability notify form when sold out.
- Leave Notify form action URL blank to use Shopify's built-in contact form, or paste an external back-in-stock app endpoint.
- Alternatively, add a back-in-stock app block in the availability_notify block slot on Main product for richer targeting.
- On Book-first service products (Add to cart hidden), the notify form stays off so booking pages do not look like sold-out retail.
How to check it worked
- Add a paired service to cart and see accurate Top pick aftercare.
- Complete one aftercare checkout from an upsell card.
- On a retail PDP, change variants and confirm price, inventory, and gallery stay in sync; open sticky Add to cart on mobile, then open the cart drawer.
- Quick view shows the same pairing and selling-plan options as the full product page.
- Deep dive: Revenue setup, Cart drawer upsells, and Cart page guides.
