Search and discovery
Configure header search, predictive results, filters, and empty states so shoppers find services and products fast.
Shoppers who cannot find a service will not book. Studio Arcana’s header search and collection filters help clients reach the right treatment or product. Upcoming search improvements surface services, specialists, products, and helpful no-results recommendations in one place.
Header and predictive search
- In Header → Search and utilities, choose icon style and whether search opens inline or in the drawer.
- Include search in mobile header utilities (for example search, cart) so phones can find services quickly.
- On the storefront, type a known service or product name and confirm predictive results appear.
- Open a full search results page and confirm sorting and empty states are clear.
Online Store → Themes → Customize → Header → Search and utilities
Collections and filters
- Organize service and retail collections with clear titles and images.
- Enable collection filters your catalog supports; test load-more and empty filtered results.
- Filter and sort updates use AJAX Section Rendering when JavaScript is available — the product grid refreshes, the URL updates, and Back/Forward restore prior filter state. If a request fails, the theme falls back to a full page load.
- Use breadcrumbs and clear headings so keyboard and screen-reader users can orient.
Menus that aid discovery
Keep primary navigation short: Services, Team, Shop, Book, and Contact (or your vertical equivalents). Use mega menu promo columns for featured services, not long paragraph copy. On desktop, Tab through mega links and press Escape to close; on mobile, parent items still expose a real URL. See Header and navigation for layout details.
Lookbook discovery
Add a Lookbook section for shoppable editorial grids. Each look supports up to four hotspot products, filters, progressive load-more, and manual or lookbook_look metaobject sources. Prefer product chips Below media when hotspots are dense.
Richer discovery ahead
Upcoming search and empty-state improvements highlight services, specialists, articles, popular searches, and configurable recommendations when a query or collection has no matches — so discovery stays useful even before your catalog is complete.
How to check it worked
- From a phone, open search and land on a service product in two taps.
- An empty or nonsense query shows a helpful empty state, not a broken page.
- Collection filters and sort update the grid (URL query changes) without a full white reload when JS is on; Back restores the previous state.
- Mega menu Escape returns focus; lookbook hotspots resolve to the intended products.
- See the Full launch checklist → Navigation and discovery.
